NMCC Faculty Dr. Patrick Wiley Named 2024 EPA Regional Wastewater Trainer of the Year

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) New England Office has recognized Dr. Patrick Wiley, Water Treatment Technology Faculty at Northern Maine Community College (NMCC), as the 2024 EPA Regional Wastewater Trainer of the Year. Dr. Wiley was one of only two individuals across New England to receive this prestigious award, honoring his dedication to educating and training wastewater operators across Maine.

Dr. Wiley’s expertise and commitment to workforce development have played a vital role in ensuring that wastewater operators receive high-quality education and training. His efforts help operators stay current with evolving technologies, contaminants, regulations, and industry best practices. The Maine Department of Environmental Protection was instrumental in nominating Dr. Wiley for this recognition.

The EPA Regional Wastewater Trainer of the Year Award was established to recognize and honor instructors who provide an exemplary education to operators in the wastewater sector. For the past 40 years, the EPA Regional Wastewater Awards Program has recognized outstanding individuals and facilities for their commitment to improving water quality in New England.
